The Life Truth No One Talks About

Dec 09, 2025

I have been thinking a lot lately about double standards. I see them in the news, I hear about
them from my clients, I experience them myself. I hear about them at school from my daughters.

So instead of avoiding them, let’s just call it out. There is a perception that men get praised for
being mediocre. While women believe they must be brilliant to get anywhere.

It’s not unfounded.

I see this play out in work situations, where a dude who has less experience and qualifications
applies to a job to “punch above”” his current level. And a more qualified female candidate feels
that she is not ready because she doesn’t have every responsibility of that role description nailed.

I have been in countless meetings where a man interrupts a woman, and when the lady tries to
“take the mic back” she is labeled as aggressive and told that she needs to listen more (even
when she was presenting).

I see this in personal situations, where men get credit for being amazing dads if they cook dinner,
or attend events, or “babysit” their own kids, while if women slacked in any of these areas they
would be labeled a crappy mother or a hot mess.

But just because these circumstances occur, does not mean you simply throw in the towel and tell
yourself, “I will just always have to do more.” Because that thinking is not going to inspire you
to stay in the game or in your power. And you need every ounce of your energy in the right place
if you’re feeling your overachiever efforts are leading to mediocre results while your male
counterparts give average efforts and seemingly get applauded.

There are many systemic biases we encounter as women; and more if you are a woman of color.
And you cannot control the people, places and things outside of you. But you can start to take
full responsibility with how you decide to own and leverage your power.

Because you don’t lack the skill. You are simply living in a world that often rewards confidence
over competence.

The quickest way to change the world, is to change with how you perceive it.

You don’t need to prove yourself twice over.
You don’t need to apologize for ambition.
You don’t need to wait for permission to create the life you want.

You are worthy because you exist.

You deserve success even if you don’t immediately get the recognition.
You already have the power to get the results you want.

The system may be slow to change, but here’s the thing: change accelerates when you stop
dimming your light to fit in.

And you become transformative when you harness your power to influence.

But you don’t have to figure this out alone. If you want practical tools to step into your power with less stress and more clarity, this free training is your next step.
